This gene encodes a member of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family and the TGFB receptor subfamily. The encoded protein is a transmembrane protein that has a protein kinase domain, forms a heterodimeric complex with another receptor protein, and binds TGF-beta. This receptor/ligand complex phosphorylates proteins, which then enter the nucleus and regulate the transcription of a subset of genes related to cell proliferation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Marfan Syndrome, Loeys-Deitz Aortic Aneurysm Syndrome, and the development of various types of tumors. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been characterized. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:2000, Immunohistochemistry: 1:10-1:50 on paraformaldehyde-fixed paraffin embedded sections. Requires antigen retrieval using heat treatment prior to staining. Sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0 is recommended., Immunofluorescence: 1:10-1:50, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
