Lipids

Lipids are organic small molecules, that are usually hydrophobic or amphiphillic. This group includes fat, fatty acids, waxes, triglycerides, sterols and phospholipids for example. Lipids are the main structural component of biological membranes of all cells. As such bacterial lipid structures and glycolipids can serve as pathogen-associated-molecular-patterns (PAMPs) and are recognized by our immune system. Various lipids of bacterial origin are therefore used as immunostimulants.

Dehydroepiandrosterone

Item number: Cay15728-1

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is an endogenous steroid hormone that is secreted primarily by the adrenal gland and is the most abundant sex steroid. Metabolites of DHEA include androstenedione (Cay-ISO60161), which subsequently may be metabolized to testosterone (Cay-ISO60154, Cay-15645) or estrone (Cay-ISO60165, Cay-10006485) which is an estradiol (Cay-ISO60155,...

Stearic Acid
Stearic Acid

Item number: Cay10011298-500

Stearic acid is a long-chain saturated fatty acid that can be derived from either animal fats or vegetable oils. Compared to other long-chain saturated fatty acids that are hypercholesterolemic, experimental diets high in stearic acid (9.3-11.8% of energy) do not raise plasma total cholesterol or LDL-cholesterol concentrations but may slightly reduce HDL-cholesterol...

Oleoyl Serinol
Oleoyl Serinol

Item number: Cay13637-100

Oleoyl serinol is an analog of ceramide and an agonist of the cannabinoid receptor GPR119 that has an EC50 value of 12 µM for stimulating secretion of GLP-1 in mouse endocrine GLUTag cells. It has been found in E. coli that express human microbiota N-acyl synthase (hmNAS) genes. It induces cell death of F-11 murine neuroblastoma and apoptosis in U-87 human astrocytoma cells...

Item number: Cay15092-250

1,2-Dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-PE (1,2-DPPE) is a naturally-occurring PE containing 16:0 fatty acids at the sn-1 and sn-2 positions. It belongs to a class of phospholipids that are the most abundant lipids in the inner leaflet of the plasma membrane. 1,2-DPPE interacts with cholesterol to form a condensed lipid monolayer with tight hydrogen bonding of the 1,2-DPPE...

cis-Vaccenic Acid

Item number: Cay20023-50

cis-Vaccenic acid is a natural 18:1 omega-7 fatty acid. It is readily incorporated into triglycerides in perfused liver. cis-Vaccenic acid up-regulates immunoglobulin synthesis and induces differentiation of K562, JK1, and transgenic mice primary bone marrow hematopoietic progenitor stem cells. Also, the levels of cis-vaccenic acid increase markedly in the bacterium...
