Immunoglobulins and Isotype Controls

Non-specific immunoglobulins or isotype controls are often used as standards or controls in antibody-based experiments. They include all proteins of an antibody class (eg. IgG or IgM ) or subclass (eg. IgG1 ) purified from a host or cell line. Isotype controls are used, for example, as negative controls in immunohistochemistry (IHC) and flow cytometry (FC, ​​FACS), where the properties should match those of the primary antibody used.
