Anti-Neuropeptide Y (NPY)

Neuropeptid Y is a 36aa neurotransmitter found in the brain and autonomic nervous system. It has been associated with numerous physiologic processes in the brain, including the regulation of energy balance, memory and learning, and epilepsy. The main effect is increased food intake and decreased physical activity. It is also implicated in the secretion of gonadotrophin-release hormone. It is secreted by the hypothalamus and it is one of the most abundant peptides in the nervous system. It is also found in some chromaffin cells of the adrenal medulla. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: Sandwich, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
