Transcription factor HES-1 is a transcriptional repressor of genes that require a basic helix-loop-helix protein for their transcription. It needs to form a complex with a corepressor protein (Groucho) to repress transcription. Transcription factor HES-1 has a particular type of basic domain which contains a helix-interrupting proline, that binds to the N-box (CACNAG) rather than the canonical E-box (CANNTG). It also consists of a C-terminal WRPW motif that is necessary for the interaction with Groucho. It localises to the nucleus. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile 40-50% glycerol, ddH2O. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. Aliquot and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
