c-erbB-2 is a membrane-associated oncoprotein having considerable sequence homology to EGFR. C-erbB-2 is the second member of the EGF receptor tyrosine kinase family of growth factor receptors. Overexpression of c-erbB-2/HER-2 is reportedly a marker of poor prognosis in node-positive and in defined subsets of node-negative breast cancer. Elevated levels of c-erbB-2/HER-2 has also been implicated in response to chemotherapy. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Immunofluorescence, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Inhibits colony formation and partially inhibits tyrosine kinase activity. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunoprecipitation: 2ug/mg protein lysate (Use Protein G), Immunohistochemistry: Frozen only., Inhibition: Recommend using C0015-10X (antibody without sodium azide)., Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Source: Ascites , Positive Control: , SKBR-3, LS174T, MAD109 or T47D, and breast carcinomas. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
