Anti-Thymidylate Synthase (TS), clone 6A196

Thymidylate synthase (TS) has been found to be an important cellular enzyme that converts dUMP to dTMP, which is essential for DNA biosynthesis. TS appears to catalyze the reductive methylation of dUMP by 5,10-methylenetetrahydrofolate to generate thymidylate and dihydrofolate. TS is a crucial target for 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) in the de novo pathway of pyrimidine synthesis, which is necessary for DNA synthesis. Elevated tumor In early-stage breast cancer, high TS expression is associated with a significantly worse prognosis in node-positive patients. While high TS levels in the tumor have been associated with poor prognosis and with resistance of tumors to 5-FU therapy, low tumor TS expression has been linked to better 5-FU response and survival. TS has, also, been found to be a critical cellular target for the fluoropyrimidine cytotoxic drugs that are widely used in the treatment of solid tumors. The antibody TS106 specifically reacts with the human TS and displays negligible cross-reactivity with other cellular proteins found in human cells. On Western Blot analysis, TS106 detects a protein of approximately 36kD under denaturing conditions. Applications: Suitale for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
