SCC-112, also known as Pds5A, interacts with the cohesin multisubunit complex that plays a critical role in chromosome organization, segregation, gene regulation, and DNA repair. Pds5 is implicated to participate in both stabilization and destabilization of cohesion-mediated cohesion in mitotic chromosomes. Protein function: Probable regulator of sister chromatid cohesion in mitosis which may stabilize cohesin complex association with chromatin. May couple sister chromatid cohesion during mitosis to DNA replication. Cohesion ensures that chromosome partitioning is accurate in both meiotic and mitotic cells and plays an important role in DNA repair. [The UniProt Consortium]
