Product information "Anti-Microtubule-associated Protein 2 (MAP2, MAP-2)"
MAP2 is a type II microtubule associated protein (MAP). It is located predominately in dendrites where it accelerates tubulin polymerization, cross-links microtubule fibers into stable bundles, and connects microtubule filaments to intermediate filaments. Alternative splicing of MAP2 mRNA gives rise to at least three different isoforms including, MAP2a (280kD), MAP2b (200kD), and MAP2c (70kD). The MAP2c isoform is expressed in embryos, whereas the MAP2a and MAP2b isoforms are expressed in adult tissues. MAP2 is the somatodentritic MAP of neurons, but it also is expressed to a lesser extent in glia. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.
