Anti-FGF-2 basic, (Fibroblast Growth Factor 2b), clone 0.T.49

FGF basic (FGF2) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. FGF family members bind heparin and possess broad mitogenic and angiogenic activities. FGF2 is involved in diverse biological processes, such as limb and nervous system development, wound healing, and tumor growth. FGF2 mRNA contains multiple polyadenylation sites, and is alternatively translated from AUG and non-AUG (CUG) initiation codons resulting in five different isoforms with distinct properties. The CUG-initiated isoforms are localized in the nucleus and are responsible for the intracrine effect, whereas, the AUG-initiated form is mostly cytosolic and is responsible for the paracrine and autocrine effects of this FGF. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml detects 100ng basic FGF. Basic FGF was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with F4210-21 (1ug/ml). Proteins were visualized using an IgG (HRP) goat anti-mouse and a chemiluminescence detection system. , Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 10ug/ml, Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): Fix with ice-cold, ethanol:acetic acid (95:5)., Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
