Anti-Diazepam Binding Inhibitor (DBI, Acyl-CoA-binding Protein, ACBP, Endozepine, EP)

Diazepam Binding Inhibitor (DBI) is a highly conserved 10kD polypeptide which is expressed in various species range from yeast to mammals. As an inverse agonist for benzodiazepine receptors, DBI downregulates inhibitory effects of GABA. It also has potential to induce anxiety. Found in central andperipheral tissues, DBI also participates in metabolism of steroids, which has been known to partially modify GABAA receptor function in the CNS. In peripheral tissues, DBI plays regulatory roles in steroidogenesis. DBI levels have been reported to be decreased in the cerebrospinal fluid obtained from patients with Alzheimer disease. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunoprecipitation: 1-2ul/400ul lysates, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
