CD4 is a 59kD type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the Ig-SF of cell surface receptors. It is expressed predominantly on the "helper/inducer" subpopulation of mature T lymphocytes, and on monocytes and macrophages. Domains 1 and 2 bind to MHC Class II antigens, while domains 3 and 4 may be involved in cis interactions with the CD3/TCR complex. CD4 functions as an accessary molecule in the recognition of foreign antigens in association with MHC Class II antigens by T cells. Applications:  Flow cytometry,  Immunohistochemistry (frozen sections),  Immunoprecipitation, Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: < 1ug/10e6 cells, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
