Product information "Anti-Catenin, alpha1, clone 6D202"
The catenins are polypeptides that bind to the conserved cytoplasmic tail of cadherins and are required for cadherin function. a-catenin is a 102kD protein that is associated with the cadherin indirectly through its interaction with b-catenin and g-catenin. b-Catenin and its homolog plakoglobin associate directly with the cadherin. Thus, the cell-cell adherens junction is a structure composed of the transmembrane cadherin, which is associated directly with either b-catenin or plakoglobin, which in turn assoctiates directly with a-catenin. a-Catenin then mediates the interaction between the cadherin-catenin complex and the actin cytoskeleton. a-Catenin has been characterized as a tumor suppressor, suggesting that it may have a regulatory function in regulation to its structural role. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunocytochemistry, Immunoprecipitation, and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml for HRP/ECL detection. Recommended Blocking buffer: Casein/Tween-20 based blocking and blot incubation buffer., Immunoprecipitation: 1-10ug per 10e6 vanadate treated A431 cells, Immunocytochemistry: 0.1-1ug/ml, alpha catenin may tolerate formaldehyde fixation, ELISA: 0.05ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: A0001-50B: A431 Cell Lysate, untreated, , Storage and Stability: , May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
