Enables enzyme binding activity, nuclear receptor coactivator activity, and thiol-dependent deubiquitinase. Contributes to H4 histone acetyltransferase activity. Involved in positive regulation of mitotic cell cycle, positive regulation of transcription, DNA-templated, and protein modification by small protein conjugation or removal. Part of SAGA complex. Protein function: Histone deubiquitinating component of the transcription regulatory histone acetylation (HAT) complex SAGA. Catalyzes the deubiquitination of both histones H2A and H2B, thereby acting as a coactivator. Recruited to specific gene promoters by activators such as MYC, where it is required for transcription.
