Product information "Anti-Progesterone Receptor, clone 16 (monoclonal) [Mouse]"
The human progesterone receptor (PR) is expressed as two isoforms, PRA (94 kD) and PRB (114 kD), which function as ligand-activated transcription factors. These two isoforms are transcribed from distinct estrogen receptor (ER)-inducible promoters within a single copy PR gene. MONX10121 is recommended for determining the progesterone receptor alpha status of breast cancer tissue. A and B forms are detected in Western blotting procedures but only the A form is detected in immunohistochemical procedures Protein function: The steroid hormones and their receptors are involved in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and affect cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues. Depending on the isoform, progesterone receptor functions as transcriptional activator or repressor. [The UniProt Consortium]
