The human progesterone receptor (PR) is expressed as two isoforms, PRA (94 kD) and PRB (114 kD), which function as ligand-activated transcription factors. These two isoforms are transcribed from distinct estrogen receptor (ER)-inducible promoters within a single copy PR gene. MONX10121 is recommended for determining the progesterone receptor alpha status of breast cancer tissue. A and B forms are detected in Western blotting procedures but only the A form is detected in immunohistochemical procedures Protein function: The steroid hormones and their receptors are involved in the regulation of eukaryotic gene expression and affect cellular proliferation and differentiation in target tissues.
