Anti-Osteoblast Specific Factor 2 (OSF-2, Periostin, Fasciclin-I like)

Osteoblast Specific Factor 2 (OSF-2), also know as Periostin, is a secreted heparin-binding glycoprotein originally identified as an osteoblast-specific factor. It has since been found to be expressed in embryonic heart. OSF-2 is highly homologous to TGF-Beta1-inducible protein BetaIg-H3 and both proteins contain four fasciclin domains. OSF-2 mediates cell adhesion by binding to integrins and serves as a useful marker of mesenchymal cells in the developing heart. Mouse and human OSF-2 share 89% amino acid sequence identity. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA (Capture): 2-8ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
