The origin recognition complex (ORC) is a highly conserved six subunit protein complex essential for the initiation of the DNA replication in eukaryotic cells. Studies in yeast demonstrated that ORC binds specifically to origins of replication and serves as a platform for the assembly of additional initiation factors such as Cdc6 and Mcm proteins. The protein encoded by this gene is a subunit of the ORC complex. It has been shown that this protein and and ORC1L are loosely associated with the core complex consisting of ORC2L, -3L, -4L and -5L. Gene silencing studies with small interfering RNA demonstrated that this protein plays an essential role in coordinating chromosome replication and segregation with cytokinesis. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. , Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml In transfected HEK293 transiently expressing ORC6L a band of ~33kD is observed. This band is not observed in the non-transfected HEK293. The calculated molecular size is 28.1kD according to NP_055136.1., Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
