Anti-C5aR1 Antibody (Avdoralimab)

Anti-C5aR1 antibody, also known as Avdoralimab or IPH 5401, is a fully human IgGkappa monoclonal antibody that targets the complement C5a receptor 1 (C5aR1) and prevents its binding to C5a. It has studied in the context of complement-driven inflammatory diseases and solid tumours. Complement component 5a receptor 1 (C5AR1), also known as CD88, is a G-coupled protein receptor for the protein C5a. It is involved in complement responses, and modulates inflammation, obseity and cancer. It is found in several types of cells, such as macrophages and dendritic cells. The development of antibodies blocking the binding of C5a to its receptor can prove highly beneficial in the treatment of disorders where excessive complement activation is involved. Avdoralimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds to C5aR1 and can prevent the recruitment of neutrophils, limit the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and thus alleviate or treat chronic inflammatory and autoimmune disorders.
