Product information "Anti-beta-Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP)"
In Alzheimer's disease, APP is broken down and releases the 12 amino acid b-amyloid protein that is found in senile plaques and vessels. The amyloid precursor protein is the subject of intensive investigations to determine how this protein is broken down abnormally in Alzheimer's disease to give rise to the b-amyloid protein which is present in senile plaques and vessels. This antiserum has been shown to be immunoreactive to the immunizing peptide by ELISA. The antiserum will immunolabel dystrophic neurites in senile plaques in both formalin-fixed paraffin sections and paraformaldehyde fixed frozen sections from Alzheimer's brain. This antiserum should be a valuable tool for scientist and neuropathologists who study the role of amyloid in Alzheimers's disease. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: ELISA: 1:1500 against immunogen peptide, Immunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:2500-1:5000 detected APP on 4% paraformaldehyde fixed frozen sections., Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:50-1:100 detected APP on formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue., Western Blot: 1:1000 , Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
