Anti-Bcl-2 (B Cell Leukemia 2)

Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer (reviewed in 1). Bcl-2 is the founding member of a family of over 20 proteins that are critical regulators of apoptosis (reviewed in 2 and 3). These can be divided into two classes: those that inhibit apoptosis and those that promote cell death. Bcl-2 is an inner mitochondrial membrane protein that inhibits apoptosis (4). It is thought to act by interacting with pro-apoptotic Bcl-2 family members such as Bak and Bad (5 for review). Overexpression of Bcl-2 has been linked to human cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer (4,6). Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: 2ug/ml, Stains human kidney section., Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Control Peptide: B0807-05E1: Bcl 2 (Control Peptide) (B Cell Leukemia 2), Positive Control: WB: Daudi cell lysate, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. ,
