Bcl-2 has shown consistent negative reaction on reactive germinal centers and positive staining of neoplastic follicles in follicular lymphoma. Consequently, this antibody is valuable when distinguishing between reactive and neoplastic follicular proliferation in lymph node biopsies. This antibody may also be used in distinguishing between those follicular lymphomas that express bcl-2 protein and the small number in which the neoplastic cells are bcl-2 negative. Anti-bcl-2 has been used as a predictive biomarker for recurrence in the case of radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, and has shown promise as a prognostic marker in the case of cancer of the breast and non- small cell carcinoma of the lung. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin, frozen): 1:25-1:100, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Lymph Node, Tonsil, Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
