trans-10-hydroxy Nortriptyline is an active metabolite of the tricyclic antidepressants amitriptyline (Cay-15881) and nortriptyline (Cay-15904). It is formed from amitriptyline and nortriptyline by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) isoform CYP2D6. trans-10-hydroxy Nortriptyline inhibits norepinephrine reuptake in rat cortical slices and isolated human plasma (EC50s = 160 and 176 nM, respectively).Formal Name: (5E)-10,11-dihydro-5-[3-(methylamino)propylidene]-5H-dibenzo[a,d]cyclohepten-10-ol.
