Kaempferol is a flavonoid present in various natural sources including red wines and the leaves of Gingko biloba. Kaempferol was found to inhibit COX-2 expression in colon cancer cells. It is cytotoxic to human leukemic cell lines. Its cytotoxicity and chemopreventive activities may be attributed to its ability to induce apoptosis.
