AZD1152 inhibits aurora kinases B and C (AurB, AurC), preventing mitotic spindle formation and proper completion of mitosis. This compound exhibits anticancer chemotherapeutic activity and is currently in clinical trials as a potential treatment for cancers with solid tumors. In acute myelogenous leukemia (AML) and acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) cells, AZD1152 induces apoptosis, inhibiting proliferation. AZD1152 also induces apoptosis in glioma cells, inhibiting proliferation in vitro and tumor growth in vivo.
