Phospho-Tau (Ser198) antibody detects tau protein (MAPT) phosphorylated at serine 198, a modification associated with cytoskeletal regulation and neurodegeneration. Tau stabilizes microtubules in neurons, but abnormal phosphorylation weakens this interaction and promotes aggregation into neurofibrillary tangles, a hallmark of Alzheimer's disease and related tauopathies.Research with Phospho-Tau (Ser198) antibody shows that phosphorylation at Ser198 occurs early in tau pathology and may precede other modifications.
