Anti-phospho-STAT6 (Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 6)

STAT (signal transducers and activators of transcription) proteins are transcription factors that are selectively phosphorylated on tyrosine residues by Jak family kinases and some receptors with tyrosine kinase activity. The STAT proteins have highly conserved amino termini. STAT family members diverge in their carboxy termini. STAT6 is activated by cytokines, IL-4 and IL-3. Evidence shows that STAT6 becomes activated after, PDGF stimulation of NIH 3T3 fibroblasts. STAT6 is distinguishable from the other STAT family members by its ability to bind a GAS-like element found in the Ig germ line e promoter of the IL-4 responsive human Ce gene (Ie). Applications: Western Blotting: 1:1000 dilution detects phospho-STAT6 in lysates of Daudi cells, stimulated with rhIL-4. 100ug of lysate from quiescent (lane 1) or rhIL-4 stimulated Daudi cells (lane 2) was resolved by electrophoresis, transferred to nitrocellulose and probed with anti-phospho-STAT6 (1:1000). Proteins were visualized using a goat anti-rabbit secondary antibody conjugated to HRP and a chemiluminescence detection system. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
