Product information "Anti-phospho-GRK 1 (Ser21)"
This gene encodes a member of the guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptor kinase subfamily of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. The protein phosphorylates rhodopsin and initiates its deactivation. Defects in GRK1 are known to cause Oguchi disease 2 (also known as stationary night blindness Oguchi type-2). [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008], Protein function: Retina-specific kinase involved in the signal turnoff via phosphorylation of rhodopsin (RHO), the G protein- coupled receptor that initiates the phototransduction cascade (PubMed:15946941). This rapid desensitization is essential for scotopic vision and permits rapid adaptation to changes in illumination. May play a role in the maintenance of the outer nuclear layer in the retina. [The UniProt Consortium] Recommended dilutions: Western Blot: 1/500 - 1/2000. Immunohistochemistry: 1/100 - 1/300. ELISA: 1/5000. Not yet tested in other applications.. Cellular localization: Membrane , Lipid-anchor . Cell projection, cilium, photoreceptor outer segment . Subcellular location is not affected by light or dark conditions. .
