Three catenin proteins, a, b and g, bind to the highly conserved, intracellular cytoplasmic tail... more
Product information "Anti-Catenin, beta, NT (Catenin beta-1, Beta-catenin, CTNNB1, CTNNB, OK/SW-cl.35, PRO2286)"
Three catenin proteins, a, b and g, bind to the highly conserved, intracellular cytoplasmic tail of E-cadherin. The catenin/cadherin complexes play an important role mediating cellular adhesion. Not only associated with E-cadherin, a-catenin was also shown to associate with other members of the cadherin family, such as N-cadherin and P-cadherin. b-catenin associates with the cytoplasmic portion of E-cadherin, which is necessary for the function of E-cadherin as an adhesion molecule. b-catenin has also been found in complexes with the tumor suppressor protein APC. g-catenin, also known as plakoglobin, is a protein that binds with a-catenin and N-cadherin. It has been shown that the transmembrane phosphatase PTP associates with catenin/cadherin complexes and may regulate complex signaling. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1000, Immunoprecipitation: 1-2ul/400ul, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
