Protein function: Mediates the uptake of glutamate into synaptic vesicles at presynaptic nerve terminals of excitatory neural cells (PubMed:11698620). May also mediate the transport of inorganic phosphate (PubMed:10820226). Involved in the regulation of retinal hyaloid vessel regression during postnatal development. [The UniProt Consortium] Validated by orthogonal and standard strategies. Buffer: 40% glycerol and PBS (pH 7.2). 0.02% sodium azide is added as preservative.
