Anti-VGLUT1 / Vesicular glutamate transporter 1

0.5 mg/ml in 1X TBS, pH7.3, with 0.5% BSA (US sourced) and 0.02% sodium azide. VGLUT1 (Vesicular glutamate transporter 1), also called SLC17A7 and BNPI (Brain-specific Na(+)-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransporter) is responsible for packaging glutamate, the most abundant neurotransmitter in the brain, into synaptic vesicles. These vesicles then release glutamate into the synapse, where it binds to receptors on the postsynaptic neuron, triggering a cascade of events that ultimately lead to the transmission of signals. Without VGLUT1, this process would be disrupted, leading to impaired neurotransmission and potentially affecting brain function. Research has shown that abnormalities in VGLUT1 expression are associated with various neurological disorders, including schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and epilepsy.
