Product information "Anti-TMC2"
This gene encodes a transmembrane protein that is necesssary for mechanotransduction in cochlear hair cells of the inner ear. Mutations in this gene may underlie hereditary disorders of balance and hearing. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2015], Protein function: Probable ion channel required for the normal function of cochlear hair cells (PubMed:11850618). Component of the hair cell's mechanotransduction (MET) machinery. Involved in mechanosensitive responses of the hair cells. [The UniProt Consortium] Recommended dilutions: WB 1:500-2000. Cellular localization: Cell membrane , Multi-pass membrane protein . Localized to the stereocilia of the cochlear hair cells. .
