Product information "Anti-TAF II p140"
The highly conserved RNA polymerase II transcription factor TFIID (see TAF1, MIM 313650) comprises the TATA box-binding protein (TBP, MIM 600075) and a set of TBP-associated factors (TAFs), including TAF3. TAFs contribute to promoter recognition and selectivity and act as antiapoptotic factors (Gangloff et al., 2001 [PubMed 11438666]).[supplied by OMIM, May 2009], Protein function: The TFIID basal transcription factor complex plays a major role in the initiation of RNA polymerase II (Pol II)-dependent transcription (PubMed:33795473). TFIID recognizes and binds promoters with or without a TATA box via its subunit TBP, a TATA-box-binding protein, and promotes assembly of the pre-initiation complex (PIC) (PubMed:33795473). The TFIID complex consists of TBP and TBP-associated factors (TAFs), including TAF1, TAF2, TAF3, TAF4, TAF5, TAF6, TAF7, TAF8, TAF9, TAF10, TAF11, TAF12 and TAF13 (PubMed:33795473). The TFIID complex structure can be divided into 3 modules TFIID-A, TFIID-B, and TFIID-C (PubMed:33795473). TAF3 forms the TFIID-A module together with TAF5 and TBP (PubMed:33795473). Required in complex with TBPL2 for the differentiation of myoblasts into myocytes (PubMed:11438666). The TAF3- TBPL2 complex replaces TFIID at specific promoters at an early stage in the differentiation process (PubMed:11438666). [The UniProt Consortium] Recommended dilutions: Western Blot: 1/500 - 1/2000. ELISA: 1/10000. Not yet tested in other applications.. Cellular localization: Nucleus .
