Product information "Anti-Spectrin, clone RBC2/3D5 (monoclonal) [Mouse]"
MONX10818 reacts with the beta chain of spectrin in human red blood cells and muscle. The antibody is recommended for use as part of a panel of antibodies in immunohistochemistry to direct genetic mutation analysis in the differentiation of the recessive muscular dystrophies. In particular, as an essential immunohistochemical control to monitor membrane integrity, thereby increasing the reliability of the detection of Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy using antibodies to dystrophin, and in the detection of forms of Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy using antibodies to the sarcoglycans or dysferlin. Protein function: Spectrin is the major constituent of the cytoskeletal network underlying the erythrocyte plasma membrane. It associates with band 4.1 and actin to form the cytoskeletal superstructure of the erythrocyte plasma membrane. [The UniProt Consortium]
