Anti-Serotonin Transporter (SERT)

Serotonin plays important physiological functions at the intestinal level, the human intestinal epithelial Caco-2 cells functionally express SERT, both at their apical and basolateral cell membranes. It is a 630aa residue in all human (chr 17q11), rat and mouse and 622aa in Drosophila. it is a multi-pass membrane protein. Serotonin transporter Terminates the action of serotonin by its high affinity sodium-dependent reuptake into presynaptic terminals. Expression is specific to cell bodies in the ventral ganglion of the embryonic and larval nervous system. This protein is the target of psychomotor stimulants such as amphetamines or cocaine. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 1-10ug/ml (Chemiluminescence), ELISA: 0.5-1ug/ml. Control peptide (Cat #S1001-25J) can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1ug/ml., Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
