Podoplanin, also called PA2.26 antigen, gp38, aggrus or T1a, is a type1 transmembrane sialomucin-type glycoprotein. It is specifically expressed by lymphatic endothelial cells but not blood vascular endothelial cells. Various carcinoma cells, as well as epithelial cells, keratinocytes and neuronal cells can also express the protein. Podoplanin is involved in cell adhesion and motility. The sialylated o-glycans on Podoplanin have been found to be required for Podoplanin-induced platelet aggregation. As a consequence of alternative splicing, an alternative isoform for human Podoplanin has been reported. Within the sequence included in this immunogen, human podoplanin shares 32% aa sequence identity with mouse podoplanin. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Western Blot: 0.1ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
