Anti-MSH alpha (Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone alpha)

Proopiomelanocortin (POMC) is the precursor of the melanocortin peptides alpha, beta and gamma. POMC neurons in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus function as key central regulators of food intake and homeostatic control of energy balance in both rodents and non-human primates. MSH increases the pigmentation of skin by increasing the melanin production in melanocytes. MSH is produced in the pituitary gland and belongs to the POMC family. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry: 1:2000. No staining is evident when M4692-25E is pre-absorbed with 0.5mg/ml of alpha MSH. , Optimal dilution determined by the researcher. Positive Control: Sheep brain (hypothalamus) , Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
