This antiserum has been heated to 56° C for 30 minutes. In ELISA formats and other immunoreactive assays, this antibody will recognize recombinant and native human MIP-1a present in body fluids and cell supernatants. This antiserum has not been evaluated for its ability to stain human MIP-1a in tissue sections, nor for its ability to neutralize human MIP-1a in bioassays, nor for its performance in immunoblot analysis. Protein function: Monokine with inflammatory and chemokinetic properties. Binds to CCR1, CCR4 and CCR5. One of the major HIV-suppressive factors produced by CD8+ T-cells. Recombinant MIP-1-alpha induces a dose-dependent inhibition of different strains of HIV-1, HIV-2, and simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV). [The UniProt Consortium]
