Anti-Melanotransferrin (Melanoma-associated Antigen p97, CD228, MFI2, MAP97)

The protein encoded by this gene is a cell-surface glycoprotein found on melanoma cells. The protein shares sequence similarity and iron-binding properties with members of the transferrin superfamily. It is involved in iron cellular uptake and seems to be internalized and then recycled back to the cell membrane. It binds a single atom of iron per subunit and could also bind zinc. This gene resides in the same region of chromosome 3 as members of the transferrin superfamily. There are two named isoforms. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 15-20ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
