Anti-Major Urinary Protein 1 (MUP 1, Mup1)

Major urinary protein 1 (MUP-1) is a 20kD lipocalin family glycoprotein that is secreted by the liver into the circulation and then excreted in the urine of male mice. Its b-barrel structure with an internal hydrophobic cavity enables MUP-1 to serve as a carrier for a variety of pheromones. In the circulation, MUP-1 promotes energy expenditure, mitochondrial biogenesis, and oxidative function, and it inhibits hepatic glucose production, triglyceride accumulation, glucose intolerance, and insulin resistance. MUP-1 is downregulated in the liver and circulation of diabetic obese mice. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunocytochemistry: 8-25ug/ml using immersion fixed NCTC 1469 mouse liver cell line, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
