Anti-Glycogen Synthase Kinase 3 alpha, beta (GSK3a/b), clone 4E+95

Glycogen synthase 3 alpha and beta (GSK-3alpha and GSK-3beta) are two highly related proteins of 51 and 47kD that function as broad specificity serine/threonine kinases (1). Although they are the products of distinct genes, GSK3alpha and GSK3beta are 93% identical over the catalytic domain, with GSK3alpha containing an additional 40 residues (2). The two isoforms are ubiquitously distributed, with the highest levels of expression occurring in the brain (2). GSK-3alpha is identical to multifunctional ATP-citrate lyase kinase and GSK3beta is identical to tau protein kinase 1 (TPK1) (1,3). GSK3beta is believed to be involved in the hyper- phosphorylation of tau protein in the Alzheimer diseased brain, and in the regulation of binding of beta catenin to APC (4,5)., , Applications: , Suitable for use in Western Blot. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
