Glycine receptor is a neurotransmitter-gated ion channel. When bound to its ligand, glycine, chloride conductance is increased and consequently inhibits neuronal firing. It is a pentameric receptor composed of alpha and beta subunits and localises to the cell junction, synapse and postsynaptic cell membrane. Defects in GLRA1 cause startle disease (STHE) which is also known as hereditary hyperekplexia or congenital stiff-person syndrome. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and direct ELISA. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile 40-50% glycerol, ddH2O. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. Aliquot and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
