Anti-GFAP (Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein), clone 3F186

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP) is specific to astrocytes (i.e., glial cells) and ependymal cells of the central nervous system. Antibody to GFAP is useful in differentiating primary gliomas from metastatic lesions in the brain and for documenting astrocytic differentiation in tumors outside the CNS. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilutions: Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1-2ug/ml for 30 minutes at RT. Note: No special pretreatment required prior to staining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections., Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: IMR-5 cells, Brain or astrocytoma , Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
