MONX10817 is recommended for use as part of a panel of antibodies in immunohistochemistry to direct genetic mutation analysis in the diagnosis and differentiation of the recessive muscular dystrophies. In particular, to identify gamma-sarcoglycanopathy (limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2C), where mutations in the gamma-sarcoglycan gene or defective expression of gamma-sarcoglycan can occur. Protein function: Component of the sarcoglycan complex, a subcomplex of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex which forms a link between the F-actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix.
