MONX10816 is recommended for use as part of a panel of antibodies in immunohistochemistry to direct genetic mutation analysis in the diagnosis and differentiation of the recessive muscular dystrophies. In particular, to identify delta-sarcoglycanopathy (limb-girdle muscular dystrophy type 2F), where mutations in the delta-sarcoglycan gene or defective expression of delta-sarcoglycan can occur. Human delta-sarcoglycan (35kD). Does not react with delta-sarcoglycan in sections of mouse, rat, rabbit, dog, chicken, hamster or pig muscle. Other animal species not tested. Protein function: Component of the sarcoglycan complex, a subcomplex of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex which forms a link between the F-actin cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix.
