Anti-CD98 (APC)

CD98, also known as 4F2, is a widely expressed disulfide-linked heterodimer in the solute transporter family. It consists of an 85kD glycosylated type II transmembrane heavy chain and a 40-50kD non-glycosylated light chain with 12 transmembrane segments. The heavy chain (SLC3A2) pairs with one of several light chains (SLC7A5, 6, 7, 8, 10, or 11) and is required for the cell surface expression and aa transport function of the light chains. CD98 also mediates integrin signaling, T cell costimulation, B cell proliferation, and viral fusion with cell membranes. Within the extracellular region, human CD98 heavy chain shares 73% and 71% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat CD98 heavy chain, respectively. Applications: Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Flow Cytometry: 10ul labels 1-2.5 x 10e5 cells, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Hybridoma: Mouse myeloma cells with B cells from a mouse immunized with purified, CHO-derived, recombinant human CD98 (aa105-529). Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C before opening. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use. Stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Freezing APC conjugates will result in a substantial loss of enzymatic activity. APC conjugates are sensitive to light.
