Product information "Anti-CD31 (PECAM-1, Platelet gpIIa Molecule), clone 6A24"
CD31 (PECAM-1, or platelet/endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1) is a 130kD glycoprotein expressed on the surface of endothelial cells, platelets, and several leukocyte subsets. CD31 is localized at places of cell-cell contact, and has sequence homology to CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) which is a known intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM). , CD31 is involved in endothelial cell tube formation, is believed to promote cell-cell adhesion during the assembly of vascular structures, and may also regulate macrophage recognition and inflammatory and immune responses. CD31 is able to bind itself, as well as to integrin alphaV beta3, which is an integrin involved in endothelial cell matrix adhesion. Other reported ligands for CD31 include glycosaminoglycans and CD38. CD31 is involved in the regulatory T cell activation, and plays a role in the diapedesis step of leukocyte emigration during inflammation. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot, Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml, Flow Cytometry: 10ug/ml, Immunohistochemistry: 10ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
