CD2 is mainly expressed on the surface of mature T cells and NK cells, while B cells usually do not express CD2. It can be used for the identity and research of normal T cells and related tumors. CD2 plays an important role in the differentiation of precursor and mature T cell lymphoma. Protein function: CD2 interacts with lymphocyte function-associated antigen CD58 (LFA-3) and CD48/BCM1 to mediate adhesion between T-cells and other cell types. CD2 is implicated in the triggering of T-cells, the cytoplasmic domain is implicated in the signaling function. [The UniProt Consortium]
