Caveolin-3 is an 18kD member of the Caveolin family of proteins which are major protein components of plasma membrane caveolae. It is preferentially expressed in muscle cells where it regulates the localization and activity of potassium channels and the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. Caveolin-3 mutations are associated with several skeletal muscle defects. It contains a central membrane-embedded sequence aa84-104 flanked by two cytoplasmic domains aa1-83 and 105-151). Over aa1-83, human Caveolin-3 shares 94aa identity with mouse and rat Caveolin-3. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.5ug/ml, Immunohistochemistry: 8-25ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
