Anti-Caspr1 (Contactin-associated Protein-1, Neurexin-4, CNTNAP, CNTNAP1, p190)

CASPR1 (Contactin­ASsociated PRotein­1, also Neurexin­4 and p190) is a 180­195kD member of the neurexin family of proteins. It is expressed on both axons and dendrites of neurons, and likely serves the critical function of directing the movement of low MW contactin, AMPA receptors, and Na+ plus K+ channels to appropriate sites on the cell membrane. This indicates participation in key processes such as myelination and excitatory neurotransmission. Mature human CASRP1 is a 1365 amino acid (aa) type I transmembrane protein. It contains a 1264aa extracellular region (aa20­1283) plus an 80aa cytoplasmic domain. The extracellular region is highly modular, possessing one discoidin (carbohydrate­binding) domain (aa24­158), four laminin G­like domains (aa203­513, 813­956 and 1088­1250), two EGF­like domains (aa540­577 and 957­996) and one fibrinogen C­terminal globular regions (aa576­795). There is one potential alternative start site at Met507. Over aa20­1280, human CASPR1 shares 94% aa sequence identity with mouse CASPR1. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Immunohistochemistry: 5­15ug/ml, Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O or PBS. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
