Mutations in this gene may cause phosphohydroxylysinuria. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Protein function: Catalyzes the pyridoxal-phosphate-dependent breakdown of 5-phosphohydroxy-L-lysine, converting it to ammonia, inorganic phosphate and 2-aminoadipate semialdehyde.
